Aitik, just south of Gällivare in Lapland, is Sweden's largest and most efficient copper mine. Here, ore deposits of copper ash containing copper, gold and silver are mined around the clock. The work in Aitik is done with some of the world's largest machines. During 2018 and 2019, a pilot project took place in which four of Aitik's trucks were adapted for electric operation via pantographs, not entirely different from how trains and trams work, on a 700-metre long test route. The project turned out so well that it has been decided that an additional 2.3 kilometers of power line will be built and ten more trucks will be equipped with pantographs. We develop smart, efficient ways to shape the sustainable mine of the future. We employ those who are prepared to move mountains for us to succeed. Do you want to become one of us?
