In this role, you will be part of the Marine and Ports division in Västerås. ABB's ports business helps shipping companies transfer containers in a reliable, fast and cost-effective way. Marine and Ports specializes in advanced automation and information systems for motion control of all types of container cranes. We are the leading supplier of crane systems and are active worldwide. In the major terminal automation projects, we supply electrical and automation systems for cranes, to the major container ports in the world.   • As Automation Commissioning Engineer you will have a central role in the projects as you manage the commissioning of our automation systems for container cranes on site.
  • Your tasks are varied and will be run in close cooperation with all parts of ABB Crane Systems and with our customers.
  • You will report to and assist the Project Manager.
  • You will organize and lead ABB's activities related to testing and commissioning as well as assist in technical discussions with the customer and the customer's consultants.
  • You will stay well informed and ensure that all changes are identified and communicated to the relevant parties.
  • You will ensure that ABB's commitments to the customer are met and in accordance with the contract.


Qualifications for the role

  • Have at least a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Automation or equivalent.
  • Have general knowledge of PLC programming or basic knowledge of C/C++.
  • Be stress resistant and have the ability to work with troubleshooting on live stations, on project sites and under pressure.
  • Enjoy working both in teams and individually.
  • You work according to relevant laws and standards but also in a pragmatic and agile way to deliver results in a global environment.
  • Be an excellent communicator with good social skills.
  • Willing to travel. This role requires being able to work abroad almost 100% of the time. In the meantime, you will see the world, get to know different cultures and meet people from different countries!
