Your role and responsibilities

As an Electrical Designer with us, you will be part of Energy Industries' project business. The division is part of ABB's Process Automation business area and operates in the field of electrical power and plant automation for customers in the heat, water and nuclear power as well as the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries in Sweden. We cover everything from instrumentation, control and regulation technology, automation, electric power systems including generator connections to information systems and process optimization based on ABB's products.

Placement is desirable in Västerås but other locations can be evaluated according to competence profile. We are also located in Kista, Malmö, Mölndal and Umeå.


Your responsibilities

  • You work with electrical and plant design in delivery projects and will be involved in all phases of the project from idea to commissioning.
  • Work tasks may include, for example, the development of room layout, cabinet design, plant circuit diagram and cable documentation and other assembly documentation.
  • You work with electrical power and plant design for power-generating plants in, for example, thermal power, hydropower and nuclear power.
  • You collaborate in some cases with the purchasing department and may have direct dialog with subcontractors to ensure that the right technical solution is developed, which may also include participation in FAT / testing in the factory before delivery.
  • You work closely with the Lead engineer within the projects and may also take part in customer meetings with the entire project team.
  • You share ABB's core values of safety and integrity, which means that you take responsibility for your own actions while feeling responsible for your colleagues and the business.


Qualifications for the role

  • We are looking for you who have a technical post-secondary education in electricity.
  • You have a few years of work experience or are newly graduated in electrical and / or plant design.
  • You have knowledge and experience of working with tools such as AutoCAD, E3 or similar.
  • You have an interest in technology, are naturally driven and curious to learn.
  • You have good collaboration skills and are used to working in teams, are goal-oriented and communicative.
  • It is meritorious if you have worked with electric power generating plants and have an understanding of customers' processes.
  • You speak and write in Swedish and English without difficulty.
  • You have a B driving license as travel in the service occurs, mainly within Sweden.
