Your role and responsibilities

At ABB Metallurgy we produce electromagnetic stirrers to the steel and aluminum industries. Primary customers are steel and aluminum plants.

This important role is a key-player in our R&D Team with focus on Electromagnetic analysis. In the R&D and Simulations department at ABB Metallurgy, existing calculation tools and newly developed multi-physics tools are employed frequently to address the benefits of using electromagnetic actuation in improving the customer processes within different steps of metal making, e.g. melting and casting. These models are continuously developed and used in actual customer projects to make sure suffi-cient performance is met, and that demands on process improvements can be guaranteed.

Responsibilities

• Electromagnetic modeling and simulation.
• Designing and analysis of electromagnetic stirrers.
• Workshop measurement of magnetic fields
• Development of calculation tools incl. programming and mathematical modelling
• Support sales and customer in technical issues.
• Contributing to publications and participation in technical conferences.

Qualifications for the role

• Master of Science or PhD degree in electric machine design or another relevant field.
• Programming skills in e.g. C/C++, Python, or similar.
• You express yourself well verbally and in writing in English.
• As a person you are analytical, careful and structured. You work proactively with focus on deliver with-in deadlines and with a high level of quality. The position requires that you have a natural willingness and ability to cooperate with others in order to reach common goals. You are creative and seek solu-tions to every challenge.
• As our business is global the position includes some international travel.
