In the Environment & Sustainability business area, AFRY offers qualified consulting services in the environmental field. Our clients are found both in the private as well as the municipal and governmental sectors. We also offer our environmental expertise to other business areas within AFRY.

As an environmental consultant at AFRY, your assignments will vary, although we currently see the main needs in the industrial and energy segments, you may also work with infrastructure projects in rail and road, municipal plans or permits for water activities. You will have the opportunity to participate in various assignments both locally, regionally and nationally. We allow you to take great responsibility and offer ambitious skills development on an ongoing basis.

The main focus of the activities in contaminated areas is project and field work as well as ongoing contact with customers and regulatory authorities. Examples of tasks and responsibilities included in the role of environmental consultant in contaminated areas are to:

  • Work with the project manager to plan and carry out environmental soil investigations, risk assessments and remedial investigations
  • Carry out field work, both in soil, water and buildings
  • Act as environmental support and environmental controller in the remediation phase
  • Manage ongoing contact with customers, supervisory authority and waste facilities
  • Participate in construction and project meetings, both internally and externally
  • Report writing and preparation of notification cases to the supervisory authority
