Company description
AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordics. Together, we are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable society.
Job description
AFRY has for many years successfully supported both Swedish and international energy producers, and we are now investing in further expansion in this exciting market. Hydropower in Sweden is evolving as we move towards a power system with 100% renewable power generation. With 500 hydropower engineers, AFRY is one of the world's largest hydropower consulting companies. There are currently around 90 of us working with hydropower in Sweden, of which around 20 belong to the Hydro Power Automation section.
We now need to strengthen our group with more experienced electrical designers/design managers who want to help drive development in the field.
In this role, you will have overall technical responsibility for the projects. You have both an overall perspective on the design and can also be involved in the design work where you are involved in designing the technical solutions and how they will be implemented. You will work with construction and automation on power plants in projects of different sizes, which includes work with electrical and control systems, magnetization systems and relay protection. The design is mainly done in Elprocad and since we usually perform customized and plant-specific solutions, you are given the opportunity for both variation and development.
You drive the projects from start to finish and thus follow the development and progress of the design in close dialogue with the designers and other stakeholders. As you also delegate tasks within the team, the role also includes a supervisory part where you support your colleagues through technical guidance and act as a sounding board when needed.
You will be part of a knowledgeable team consisting of both junior and senior colleagues. The majority of the work is carried out in our office, but the opportunity to work flexibly is available to the extent that it works for the tasks. Travel is a natural part of the service, from single days to week-long periods e.g. during the implementation phase of projects.
Qualifications
Personal skills are something we value highly for you to thrive in the role. Since a large part of the work consists of understanding and analyzing complex issues and problems, we are looking for you who have good problem-solving skills. You work in a structured and thorough manner with an eye for detail, and have the ability to switch between seeing the big picture in projects and how individual parts affect and interact with each other. You have a solution-oriented approach that allows you to smoothly and flexibly handle unexpected events, while supporting and adapting to your colleagues to achieve common goals together.
In addition to personal competencies, we are looking for you who have several years of experience in electrical construction in electrical power. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English both in speech and writing, as both languages are used frequently within AFRY and with our customers. As traveling is a natural part of the service, a B-driving license is required.
We see it as a merit if you have experience of hydropower or similar power generation, as well as experience of testing (FAT/SAT) and commissioning. If you have experience of working with technical project management, automation, control systems and / or relay protection, we also see it as meritorious.
As the position may work in security-classified areas, it may be relevant with drug tests and security tests before employment can begin.
Further information
We offer you a flexible working environment and great freedom with responsibility as we understand that everyone's life is different and the importance of having a good work-life balance. At AFRY, we share a strong culture of knowledge sharing and skills development through internal and external trainings and individual development plans.
