AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordics. Together we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.

About the role

Are you a Core Drilling Field Technician with a few years of experience and ready to take the next step? Do you want to work for an employer that values your skills and offers development opportunities?

AFRY Geotechnical Section in Stockholm is now looking for a field technician with experience of core drilling who wants to be part of driving our exciting projects forward.

About AFRY

AFRY is one of Sweden's leading players in geotechnics and rock, with over 200 employees. We work nationally in various subgroups to develop our working methods and run successful projects. Our geotechnical section has won several large framework agreements during the year and is now expanding to meet the increasing demand.

At our office in Stockholm, we are 27 people divided into two teams: field geotechnicians and geotechnicians. We also work very closely with our rock engineering section in Stockholm, which consists of 26 people. Together we are responsible for collecting data, analyzing and reporting to our customers. You will be part of a dedicated team where competence exchange and collaboration are key elements. We also offer flexibility with the possibility to work from our offices in Uppsala or south of Stockholm. Our field storage and workshop are located in Södertälje, where we often meet all in the field for full days focusing on equipment and technology development.

The role of Field Technician in Geotechnics and Core Drilling

As a responsible field technician, you have a central role in our projects. You will lead and plan fieldwork in close collaboration with the responsible geotechnical and rock technician and ensure the quality of the collected material. The role involves responsibility for delivering high quality field data, from collection to review and reporting. The work consists of performing geotechnical investigations in loose soil layers with a traditional geotechnical drill rig, as well as performing core drilling (WL drilling) with specific drilling equipment.

We work with modern digital tools for planning and reporting of field work. The work with geotechnical investigations mainly takes place within Stockholm County, but travel to other parts of Sweden may occur. Core drilling work may be carried out throughout Sweden. Work usually takes place Monday to Thursday, with Fridays devoted to compiling field data and preparing the following week's work.

Requirements

We are looking for you who:

  • Have experience in core drilling and a genuine interest in machines and technology.
  • Have a desire to develop in geotechnics and broaden your knowledge even in a role as a responsible field geotechnician.
  • Are used to planning and leading field work and have experience of working with drill rigs and other field equipment.
  • Has good communication skills and enjoys working in teams.
  • Is responsible, flexible and has a strong ability to adapt to different projects and technical challenges.
  • Is curious about geotechnical engineering as a technical field and wants to contribute to the development of the projects together with our administrators.
  • Have a B-driving license
  • C-driving license is meritorious

What we offer:

  • A flexible job where you are given the opportunity to work partly with geotechnical investigations and partly with rock engineering core drilling assignments.
  • A solid introduction and opportunity for personal development in the role of field geotechnical engineer in a technically progressive environment.
  • A responsible role in a dynamic and technically progressive organization.
  • The opportunity to work with exciting projects and advanced technical methods, including marine environments, core drilling and special methods in geotechnics.
  • Close collaboration with a strong national geotechnical network
  • Flexibility and the opportunity to work from several of our offices in the region
  • Adapted work vehicle location to minimize time-consuming transportation.
  • A strong team spirit where development, learning and job satisfaction are at the center.
