Company description

AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordics. Together we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.

About the role

Since a few years back, AFRY Transmission Lines has a dedicated group of GIS coordinators. Since its inception, the group has grown and today constitutes the largest overall group with GIS competencies throughout AFRY. AFRY Transmission Lines is now looking for a Group Manager to join this team to continue to help our customers enable the energy transition and create the conditions for record-breaking expansion of the regional and national grid.

The energy transition is the defining issue of our generation and perhaps the most important part of the solution is to transfer energy from producer to consumer in a sustainable way - at least we believe so. In the Transmission Lines section, AFRY works with regional and national transmission lines (both overhead, underground and submarine). We have projects in all phases; from feasibility studies and permits through design/construction, to construction support and final inspection of the completed line. AFRY has a large and experienced consulting group in power lines and we continue to grow. Our clients are mainly the major Swedish electricity grid companies, but we also work for grid companies in other Nordic countries and other players in the energy sector.

The role is an important cog in ensuring GIS and data supply together with the group and providing a structure for the section to work in. In addition, the group will be led to develop new ways of working in the long term that ensure quality and delivery reliability in the projects that the section takes on. The GIS Coordinators Group Leader is also responsible for the business development of GIS-based products/services to both existing and new customers. You will be supported by ten highly skilled colleagues in the group, a large GIS network in the rest of AFRY and the Transmissions Line management team of which you will be a part.

Requirements

We attach great importance to your personal qualities and your potential to develop with us. Because if we find that match, we believe you will also thrive as a team leader with us. Win-win!

We are looking for you who are motivated by creating and maintaining many and good relationships with employees, customers and colleagues. The contact surfaces are multiple and we see good relationships as the best basis for creating trust with customers and for giving the others in the group the best conditions to succeed.

But just as important for the role is your business acumen. You will be expected to effectively generate ideas and solutions that can meet future customer needs. In practice, this means being able to transform GIS data and services into business insights and to focus energy and resources on projects and tasks that add business value.

What knowledge and experience do you need to bring with you?

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering, surveying, civil engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in leading or developing teams as a manager or project manager.
  • Knowledge of GIS applications, capabilities and system requirements.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, as the language is used frequently both within AFRY and with our customers

We see it as a merit if you:

  • have experience of the electricity grid industry.
  • have worked with digital development/change projects in current or previous organization.
  • have an experience base in the ESRI platform.

About the recruitment process

In this recruitment, you do not need to submit a cover letter, only a CV. Instead, within a few days of submitting your application, we will ask you to answer a few selected questions. This will help us get a better understanding of your skills and experience in relation to this particular position.

If we see that your background, skills and experience may be right for us, we will then use tests as a next step in identifying your potential. That is, how well you match the parts of the requirements profile that deal with personal qualities and problem-solving skills. The tests will also help us to ensure a more accurate and fair recruitment process.

As the position may operate in security classified areas, drug tests and security checks may be required before employment can begin.
