Company description

AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordics. Together, we are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable society.

About the role

With a proud history and an exciting future, the nuclear industry is the place where you can make a real difference in shaping the energy landscape of tomorrow. At Nuclear Sweden, we work in close collaboration with our customers and carry out projects of varying sizes ranging from complex modernization projects to decommissioning projects. We have a broad competence that gives us the opportunity to help both our customers and each other to develop.

We are now looking for reinforcement to expand our group with an experienced mechanical designer for consulting assignments in nuclear power. In the role, you will have the opportunity to work in exciting projects where the work will primarily be carried out in a design database with the application of tools within a CAE environment. Your assignments will include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Participate in new, rebuilding and extension of plants
  • Design of mechanical and piping systems
  • Preparation of drawing documents for manufacturing, assembly and verification
  • Investigation and design
  • Act as design manager

Furthermore, we also see that in the role there will be opportunities for you to be involved in building and developing the group in this technical area. This is done by being involved in the projects from the idea stage to the finished work and with this developing working methods, organizing new standards and routines for how the work should be done, as well as supervising and instructing new colleagues and groups. Within your area of expertise, we would like you to take a leading role towards our customers, both in terms of continuing to develop and build on relationships and trust, and in the long run building your own business.

Requirement specification

We attach great importance to your personal qualities and your potential to develop with us. Because if we find that match, we believe you will also thrive with us. Win-win!

Because we work in a customer-oriented business with many different contact surfaces, we are looking for you who are motivated by building and nurturing many and good relationships with both customers and colleagues. You are simply driven by creating and maintaining strong working relationships, both with customers and within the organization.

But equally important for the role is that you are goal-oriented and structured. This means that you have a knack for focusing, planning and organizing both tasks and resources, in order for projects to be successful and delivered on time and within budget. Through your methodical and meticulous approach, we ensure high quality in all aspects of the work.

As you will often be dealing with complex technical and operational challenges, strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also an advantage. These qualities will enable you to use your knowledge and experience in a flexible way to find practical and effective solutions in everyday life.

Furthermore, we look for you to have:

  • Relevant university education in mechanics, mechanical engineering, product development or similar
  • Experience in mechanical design in the relevant process industry
  • Using tools and software for mechanical design, such as either Solid Works, Creo and/or Inventor
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English both in speech and writing, as both languages are frequently used at AFRY and our customers
  • B-driving license, as travel is a natural part of your role

We see this as a merit:

  • Previous work experience in nuclear power
  • Previous experience working as a design manager or similar role

About the recruitment process

If you move forward in this recruitment process, we will use tests as a step in identifying your potential. That is, how well you match the parts of the requirements profile that deal with personal qualities and problem-solving skills. The tests also help us to ensure a more accurate and fair recruitment process.

As the position operates in security classified areas, you will undergo drug tests and security checks before employment can begin.
