About the role
Do you want to be part of shaping the sustainable energy solutions of the future?
AFRY is a global leader in hydropower with 500 engineers and is now looking for a passionate steel designer and administrator. We are in an exciting phase of development towards 100% renewable power production and need you to join us on this journey. In Sweden, we are about 90 people working with hydropower, of which about 35 belong to the section Dams, geotechnics and construction.
In this dynamic and varied role you will:
- Design and develop innovative mechanical designs
- Conduct investigations and feasibility studies for future hydropower projects
- Conduct advanced calculations and create manufacturing documentation
- Participate in the design of exciting projects both nationally and internationally
A typical working week may include:
- Design of hydropower components such as dam gates and ancillary equipment
- Strength and lift calculations
- Pre-studies, inspections and surveys
Our projects are run both from the office and the home office, with frequent site visits to facilities around the country. We offer a stimulating job with challenging assignments in a great team located all over Sweden and also abroad. You will have the support of colleagues in several offices in Sweden, giving you a strong network base to work with. In the long term, there is the opportunity to develop in dust safety and undergo RIDAS training, which opens up more development opportunities within the company.
Requirement specification
We are looking for you who have a relevant engineering education or similar, with a focus on mechanics, machine, building and construction. You should be thorough, solution-oriented and have the ability to work both independently and in teams. Good communication skills and the ability to handle customer contacts are also important qualities for this role.

What kind of knowledge and experience do you need to bring with you?
- Work in hydropower or dam safety (RIDAS)
- Experience from the construction industry
- Knowledge of CAD programs such as Solid Works, Inventor or AutoCAD
- Experience in FEM calculation
- Fluent Swedish and English in both speech and writing
- B driving license
