About the role
AFRY is a leading hydropower consulting company with over 500 engineers globally. We are now looking for an experienced and driven Supervising Engineer in concrete and steel construction. In this role, you will contribute to the expansion of pumped storage in Sweden, a technology for large-scale energy storage that enables the continued expansion of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. In Sweden, we have about 90 employees in hydropower, of which about 35 belong to the Dams, Geotechnics and Construction section.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Conduct investigations, feasibility studies and cost analyses in early project stages.
- Conduct calculations and produce construction documents in detailed design.
- Review and quality assure produced documents.
- Supervise and train junior employees.
A typical work week:
- Participation in investigations and feasibility studies for both existing and new facilities.
- Dimensioning and preparation of construction documents for buildings and structural elements.
- Participation in project meetings and close dialog with colleagues and clients.
Our projects are run both from AFRY's office and the home office, with regular site visits to facilities around the country. We offer a stimulating job with challenging assignments together with great colleagues all over Sweden. We also collaborate with colleagues abroad, which means both national and international projects.

Formal competencies:
Requirements:
- Relevant engineering education, or equivalent experience in building or civil engineering At least 5 years of experience working with concrete and steel structures.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Experience of software such as AutoCAD, FEM-Design, Revit and TEKLA.
Wishes:
- Driving license B.
- Basic understanding of electricity and installation technology in house building.
- Experience from design and / or execution on the construction side.
- Experience of working with Description tools for AMA.
- Work in hydropower or dam safety (RIDAS).
