MAKE A CONTRIBUTION AS A DAY CARE HOME FOR BODENS MUNICIPALITY
Boden municipality is looking for a day care home within 2 hours travel time from central Boden, with the possibility of receiving up to two children aged 0-18 years.
As a day care center, you will receive children at short notice who need immediate protection or support for a short time. An emergency shelter is a person or family who takes children into their home when the social services in the municipality need to investigate the child's situation. During your time as a shelter, you may be asked to take in one or more children. Each individual child will be placed with you for a short period. You may also have periods without placed children.
A child may need to stay in an emergency home for various reasons. For example, it may be because the child's parents are failing to care for the child, because of abuses such as violence or abuse, because of the child's own behavior, or because the child is an unaccompanied minor arriving in Sweden without parents.
The placement of each individual child can last from a few days up to about six months. On the other hand, you can have assignments as a foster home for different children over several years.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What's involved: As a foster parent, you will ensure that the child's needs are met during their stay. You are responsible for the day-to-day care and help to ensure that the child has a good everyday life, support at school, access to health care and support in socializing with family and friends.
As a foster parent, you do not have custody of the child.
Unaccompanied minors have a guardian or a specially appointed guardian with similar responsibilities. You have no obligation to provide for the child.
QUALIFICATIONS
What is required to become a foster carer? The social services will assess you and your family's suitability to receive a child in your home. The assessment includes interviews, home visits and reference checks.
If you and your family are deemed suitable, a matching process remains. The municipality will then look at whether you or your family are able to take care of the child that the social services need to place.
Support and compensation:
Social services will offer you the training you need when you become a foster carer. Once the child is placed, you will receive advice, support and other help that you need based on your assignment. As a foster carer, you will receive financial compensation to cover the costs you incur for the child and a fixed fee for the assignment itself.
