The work of the administration is permeated by cooperation, holistic approach and efficient use of resources. Through good planning, the administration contributes to an attractive living environment that is sustainable in the long term from an ecological, social and economic point of view. The Public Works Administration consists of the following operational areas: Spatial Planning, Water, Sewerage and Waste, Streets, Parks and Forests and Real Estate, Environment and Construction. The Projects and Investment unit manages and coordinates the administration's new and reinvestments. The Environment and Construction Unit plays an important role in achieving the municipality's vision of 30,000 inhabitants and we work actively to increase the attractiveness of our municipality. The unit belongs organizationally to the community planning administration but has its own budget and staff. The Environment and Construction Unit has around 19 employees working in the areas of administration, energy advice, alcohol, food, construction, and environmental and health protection. DUTIES AND TASKS As an environmental officer/environmental inspector with us, you work with supervision under the Environmental Code. The work includes, among other things, supervision of environmentally hazardous activities, processing applications, notifications and referrals, as well as advising and handling comments received from the public. The tasks will be designed on the basis of the needs of the environment and construction unit, taking into account individual skills and interests. As a food inspector, you will work on the inspection and audit of food establishments. This means that you will meet and have contact with food business owners and operators. The work also involves providing information and advice based on food legislation. The role of food inspector also includes drinking water supervision, which may involve, for example, on-site inspection, checking submitted analysis reports and establishing examination programs. QUALIFICATIONS Environmental Officer/Environmental Inspector: We are looking for a university graduate with a degree in environment, natural sciences, law or environmental and health protection. You have knowledge of environmental legislation. Experience of exercising authority, working with contaminated areas and environmentally hazardous activities, e.g. waste activities, is an advantage. Food Inspector: You have a scientific college or university degree as a food inspector, environmental and health protection inspector with a food focus or other training deemed equivalent. You have a good knowledge of the Food Act. If you have previously worked as a food inspector, this is an advantage. Central to our work is meeting the public, private individuals and companies in various situations. In your role as an officer/inspector, you will need to make demands but also provide advice and information. It is important for us that you can be clear, but at the same time have a humble approach to best convey the right message in different situations. Social skills are highly valued and will facilitate the work. We offer a varied job with great responsibility, which requires you to be organized, enterprising and have a high level of initiative.
