Your opportunity:

Join our dynamic Mining Engineering Department, supporting Boliden mines in Sweden, Finland, and Ireland. We are at the forefront of innovation, solving complex problems, and implementing new technologies. As the Chief Mine Planning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our mining operations.

Who you will work with:

You will lead a talented team within the Mine Planning section, collaborating with experts in Rock Mechanics, Mine Planning, and Production Technology. Our team is dedicated to excellence, working closely with various project leaders to ensure cohesive and effective project execution.

What you will do:

  • Oversee and guide your team towards achieving both individual and organizational goals.
  • Ensure that the team’s work meets quality standards and project deadlines.
  • Mentor and develop team members, creating training plans and providing growth opportunities.
  • Serve as a subproject manager/coordinator in feasibility studies, integrating mine planning into broader project goals.
  • Collaborate with project leaders across disciplines for effective project execution.
  • Provide operational support to mine sites, assisting with day-to-day activities.
  • Refine and enhance current processes and routines, driving the development and implementation of new ones.

What you bring:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Datamine, Deswik).
  • In-depth knowledge of mining processes, geology, and mineral economics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make strategic decisions.
  • A University degree in mining engineering is a must, with at least 10 years of experience as a mine planning engineer in open pit and/or underground.
  • Previous experience as a Chief Engineer or Team Lead is a merit.
  • Professional designation in any jurisdiction (P.Eng, QP etc ) is a merit
  • Proficiency in English, with Swedish being a merit.
  • A Category B driving license.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Boliden Some business travel will be required. The starting date is subject to agreement.
