Boliden Mines is looking for a Head of Department Abandoned Mines to join Boliden Mines' Sustainability Team


Your role

We are looking for an operational, committed and determined Head of Department who wants to take responsibility for operating and managing Boliden's abandoned mining areas in a responsible manner. In this role, you will be responsible for self-monitoring and communication with authorities, as well as supervision and operation of water treatment plants and dams. You and your team actively work on risk management and prioritize complementary remediation measures to reduce our impact on the surrounding environment and communities. You are driven by analyzing, identifying and implementing continuous improvements in operations, and enjoy balancing different interests and making difficult decisions. Your team

You will lead a team of 5 employees with expertise in environmental coordination, dam safety and project management. In this role, you will report to the Business Area Sustainability Director and work in close collaboration with other Heads of Departments within the Sustainability Staff.


Your tasks

  • Plan, lead and distribute the work within the department
  • Coordinate and prioritize actions and work efforts
  • Strive for good relations with local residents and authorities
  • Ensure a good working environment within the department and at the sites you are responsible for
  • Develop employees and working methods
  • Active participation in the department's tasks


Your contribution

  • University or college education with a focus on environment, water or civil engineering.
  • Several years of experience from supervisory positions.
  • Experience in remediation projects and knowledge of operation of dams and water treatment plants.
  • An interest in Swedish environmental legislation and its application.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English
  • Driving license for passenger car
