Business description

The Guardianship Unit is responsible for the supervision of guardians, trustees and guardians - an important activity that aims to protect the rights of people who cannot safeguard their legal and financial interests themselves. We work closely with the public, the courts and other authorities, and play a crucial role in ensuring that guardianship works safely and legally.

The Guardianship Unit is part of the Lapland Guardianship Board, which is a joint board for the municipalities of Gällivare, Jokkmokk and Pajala. The collaboration provides the conditions for efficient and legally secure operations over a larger geographical area. The service is an expansion of the business and has been added as part of our long-term development work. By strengthening the business, we create better conditions for further developing our working methods and ensuring a high quality in the implementation of the assignment.

Work tasks

As an administrator at the guardianship unit, you work with qualified processing and exercise of authority.

Your work includes, among other things:

  • Review of annual and final accounts from guardians and trustees
  • Examination of applications for guardianship and trusteeship
  • Preparation of investigations and opinions to decision-makers and the court
  • Recruitment, training and appointment of guardians and trustees
  • Information and guidance to relatives, principals and other interested parties

The work also involves collaboration with other municipal functions and external actors. Presentations in various forums and participation in networks and working groups may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a university degree in law, social sciences, economics or other relevant field that the employer considers equivalent. Experience of administration within an authority, preferably from guardianship activities. Good ability to express yourself clearly in both speech and writing in Swedish. A structured approach and good ability to work independently. Ability to deal with people from different backgrounds in a professional, sensitive and respectful manner. Experience of investigative work and knowledge of relevant legislation is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.

Working hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent employment. Probationary period may apply. Flex agreement.
