The leisure unit operates and manages sports and leisure facilities in Gällivare municipality. We exist for the citizens of the municipality and the purpose of our activities is to provide conditions for a rich and active leisure time. We offer opportunities for activities of various kinds through our various sports and wellness facilities. We are also responsible for grants and other support to associations. The service is located at Sjöparksbadet in Gällivare, but work at other facilities occurs.

Work tasks

The service is a combination service where you mainly work as a caretaker at the swimming pool but during certain times go in and help a team of 4 lifeguards in their work with pool surveillance and other lifeguard tasks. As a caretaker, you are responsible for the water treatment in the facility and for the operation and maintenance work as well as other caretaking at the swimming pool. This includes periodic inspections, repairs, supervision and maintenance, and emergency services. The work is performed with a high degree of autonomy. Qualifications

We are looking for you with at least upper secondary education or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Good water experience is a requirement. Before employment, a test in Lifesaving must be approved. Caretaker training, lifeguard training or other skills in swimming, sports facilities and experience of similar tasks is an advantage. A B driving license is a requirement. The work is carried out in close contact with various employees at our facilities and therefore you should have easy social contacts and be able to create trusting relationships. Your ability to cooperate and adapt to different working conditions is important. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, when hiring, an extract from the police's criminal record must be presented.

In the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
