In Gällivare municipality, we have a unit with all authority exercise in the areas of social services. The assistance unit underwent an organizational change in 2020, where it was reintroduced an operation with two heads of operations, one for the group of children and young people and one for the adult group. In addition, it was also decided to employ a coordinator within each group. Are you our new operations manager who wants to be involved in continuing to develop our organization?

Tasks

We are now looking for a driven, development-oriented operations manager for the adult group. Together with us, you have the opportunity to make a difference for those we are for.

As head of operations, you are responsible for the adult group, which includes substance abuse, financial assistance and family center. You will lead social secretaries, a coordinator, assistance officers, elderly care officers, family care centers and have a total of about 20 employees within your group. Your task will be to plan, lead, develop and follow up the activities. You work towards set goals and are also responsible for leading, managing and following up the activities in line with current legislation and established goals. Together with the coordinator, you ensure legally secure processing.You are part of the Social Administration's management team and report directly to the Head of Administration. In collaboration with the management team, you will take responsibility for your unit but also from the perspective of the whole of the Assistance Unit and have a cross-administrative holistic approach. Based on your role, you must have the ability to work both strategically and operationally as a manager. Your responsibilities include work management, personnel and work environment issues, budget responsibility, method and business development, and acting as a support and sounding board for the administrators in their daily work. Collaboration and cooperation with other administrations and authorities, both internally and externally, is a natural part of the job. To support your mission, there are municipality-wide functions such as personnel and finance, as well as cooperation with the administration's other managers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a social worker degree or other education that is considered equivalent and experience of managing a group and exercising authority. It is an advantage if you have previously worked as a manager. You have knowledge and experience of IBIC and are well grounded in the area's legislation. As a person, you are goal- and result-oriented and can reprioritize work in the event of changing conditions or needs. We also see that you are energetic, dare to stand for decisions made and have the ability to make them understandable to employees through clear communication and influence them in a positive direction. You are driven by developing new ways of working that are adapted to the needs of our users, the conditions of the outside world and society's resources. You see opportunities for change and lead from a holistic perspective. Since in this role you will collaborate with your closest managerial colleague but also with other managers and external actors, it is important that you see opportunities and are passionate about working in collaboration with others. Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
