Sjöparksskolan is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the city and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has about 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been rebuilt to meet the requirements of a secondary school and is modern in design. The school is working hard on designing good learning environments, peer learning and on designing sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school is staffed every day by recreation leaders. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site at the unit. There are also special educators, social educators, study and vocational counselors. 2 key educators work to develop our digital skills and the school has a house substitute who works to cover short-term absences. The school is divided into 4 work teams, each led by a first teacher. New and unauthorized staff are supervised by experienced and authorized colleagues as an introduction and in the continued daily work of teaching. The school provides opportunities for pupils with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is available at the school.

Duties

In the role of school host, you will plan and implement extracurricular activities for the students at Sjöparksskolan. You are present at breaks and in corridors with a focus on creating good relationships with students and a safe atmosphere in the school. Together with the principal and teachers, you will be involved in driving the school's equal treatment work forward. You will work to ensure that all students have an accessible learning environment and will be involved in creating a school with a holistic approach to education and leisure. Your goal is to give students the action skills they need to want and be able to participate in influencing a sustainable future.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have training as, for example, a leisure leader, childminder, student assistant or similar. You have previously worked with young people aged 13 - 17 years.

You are relationship-building, stress-resistant, have good collaboration skills and find solutions. Good and clear communication is important to you. We attach great importance to you being a confident adult who can create good relationships with students, guardians and staff at the school and it is obvious for you to contribute in a positive way to solving common tasks. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
