Description of activities
Emmaskolan i Mettä Dokkas is an elementary school in the countryside of Gällivare municipality. It includes a preschool class, after-school care and grades 1-6. The school has 50 pupils from Dokkas, Mettä Dokkas, Leipojärvi and surrounding villages, with a steady influx of new pupils. Adjacent to the school is the newly built Emma preschool with two departments. The school has close access to large natural areas that are used in all the students' activities.
Emmaskolan is a small school where we develop close relationships and dare to succeed and fail together. Our vision is "For a future where everything is possible!". We want to give students the skills and knowledge to learn so they can create their own future. We are constantly developing our teaching and learning environments to give students the best possible conditions for learning. Hakka's school within the same rector's area has been granted an ERASMUS+ accreditation for 2021-2027. This means continuous cooperation projects with other schools around Europe with the possibility of travel within the service for all participating educators, from both Hakka's school and Emma's school. The goals of the work with ERASMUS + are; to collaborate with other schools in Europe that have similar challenges as we have, to strengthen the students' motivation to read several languages, to further develop distance education and to give students and teachers the opportunity to see their own hometown from new perspectives.
