Job description

The position of technician is located in the Technology Department within the Public Works and Technology Administration. The department is responsible for providing residents with services in the areas of water/sewage, streets, traffic, fiber and waste management. As a technician with water and sewage, you are part of the technical department's Va-unit. We are about 18 people who work together to develop the operation and maintenance of public waterworks and treatment plants in Gällivare municipality. The unit is characterized by broad expertise and a team spirit based on the values of Gällivare municipality. Development issues are important to us with the goal of further strengthening Gällivare as an attractive municipality to live and work in. We work continuously with improvements in work processes and in collaboration with internal and external actors. You will be part of a team that works to ensure that our municipality is kept in a good and safe condition.

Work tasks

We are looking for water technicians for the waterworks. The role includes being involved in the daily operation of the waterworks in the municipality. This involves both monitoring and working out at the plants. The work requires you to be flexible and able to help where needed, as there can often be changed circumstances during a working day. In addition to independent work, you collaborate within your own operating group and unit. We work closely together and support each other when needed. Being on standby is part of the job. You will also assist with material purchases, etc. In your work as a technician, you have many contacts both internally and externally, so you should be easy to work with and be service-oriented. You should have a professional approach to employees and customers. The service is characterized by responsibility, development, commitment, cooperation and problem solving.
Introduction will take place with existing technicians.

The work includes on-call duty.

Qualifications

You have a technician's degree or other education/experience that the employer considers equivalent for the position. Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following is an advantage: electricity/controls and regulations/pipes. Previous work in the water and sewage sector, as well as experience of computerized maintenance and documentation systems, would also be an advantage. Some mechanical knowledge is also an advantage to have in this role You have good administrative skills and good computer skills as a user of support systems. You will receive induction and additional training on an ongoing basis. As the work involves many contacts and documentation requirements, it is important that you have a good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. As a person, you are reliable and structured in your work and you take responsibility for your tasks. You work well independently but also find it easy to cooperate and be part of the group. Being flexible and having the ability to reprioritize tasks when needed is a prerequisite for the role. You are also service-minded and have good interpersonal skills, both towards your colleagues and external contacts. Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
