Description of activities
The Social Administration conducts statutory activities with the support of the Social Services Act, the Health Care Act and the Act on Support and Services for Certain Disabled Persons. The Social Administration shall, on the basis of democracy, promote people's economic and social security, equality in living conditions and active participation in community life, but also provide good care, health care and service to the elderly, people with disabilities and others who need community support.
The Social Administration consists of the Assistance Unit, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department of Functional Support and the Department of Home Care.
We are looking for deputy unit managers for the summer of 2025 for the home care operations.
Duties
The main task is to ensure that users receive the care, care and service they are granted.
As a unit manager in the social administration, you are responsible for the operations according to the goals set by the Social Board for the operations and according to common policy programs, guidelines, laws and regulations. You lead and distribute the work in your area and are responsible for finances, work environment and personnel. You are directly subordinate to the head of department.
To support your mission, you have an administrator and unit manager colleagues as well as support from municipal-wide functions,
e.g. personnel and financial officers.

We want you to see opportunities, be open to new ways of thinking and have the ability to enthuse your colleagues. The position requires you to have leadership and collaboration skills. It is also meritorious if you have training in the field of social services as well as in personnel and finance.
As we are an Administrative Municipality for minority languages, we see it as positive if you master one of the minority languages, Finnish, Sami and/or Meän kieli.
Driving license required
Strong emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
In the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare municipality is an administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli and Finnish. Knowledge of one of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
