About the position

The Department of Child Welfare, Social Work and Social Care has a vacancy for a permanent 100% position from August 2025 as associate professor/senior lecturer/university lecturer in social work. The position belongs to the Department of Social Science and Counseling with office location Lillehammer.

The social worker education is an academic and practice-oriented education in social work, with profession-specific working methods based on research, experience and user knowledge, and its own profession-specific standards.

The program aims to educate social workers who can assist both individuals, families or groups with a wide range of social problems. We want to educate social workers who, through critical reflection and broad knowledge of the connections between individuals, groups and society, can contribute to creating improvement and necessary changes. We also emphasize focus on process management and competence in the areas of coordination/interprofessional collaboration/management and project work/management.


Responsibilities and duties

  • Organize, develop and conduct lectures, seminars and supervision, as well as approve work requirements and participate in grading work
  • Solve academic-administrative tasks, such as course planning and study program responsibility.
  • Plan, participate in or initiate practice-oriented research projects aimed at topics relevant to social work
  • Develop applications for external funding of research and development projects
  • Collaborate with the field of practice on student learning and professional development
  • Contribute to pedagogical development work in various forms of student-active learning and skills training in social work
  • Collaborate with the health and social sector and working life
  • Conduct ongoing suitability assessments

Other tasks may be added to the position as needed.


Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

  • You must qualify for the position of Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Social Work in accordance with the requirements stated in Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act.
  • Emphasis is placed on knowledge of and experience in using student-active forms of learning and assessment in relevant subject areas.
  • Good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian/Scandinavian and English.
  • Satisfactory digital competence related to student-related work and current research and development work.

Experience competence:

  • Competence in social work professional background, preferably social worker
  • Experience from research and or development work is desirable
  • Recent work experience and competence in social work knowledge areas relevant to social work practice within the public or non-profit sector
  • Emphasis is placed on knowledge of and experience in using student-active forms of learning and assessment in relevant subject areas

Pedagogical competence:
Documented practical pedagogical education and experience from teaching and supervision at university and university college level, cf. Regulations to the Universities and University Colleges Act. Applicants who are unable to document pedagogical competence at the time of appointment are obliged to complete the university college's course in higher education pedagogy or equivalent within two years of appointment.

Personal qualities:

  • Good collaboration skills and high work capacity
  • Ability to communicate well with students and colleagues
  • Flexibility and independence are emphasized
  • Interest in educational development is a prerequisite

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified is based on an overall assessment of education, experience and personal suitability and other qualification requirements as formulated in the advertisement, in addition to motivation for the position.

If there is no applicant who satisfies the competence requirements for permanent employment, a temporary appointment may be made for up to one year in a lower position, cf. Act relating to universities and university colleges § 7-3.

The position and associated tasks must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for government employees, including the Act on the Control of Exports of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology, etc. Candidates who, after assessment of the application and attachments, conflict with the criteria in the latter act, will not be able to take up the position at the University of Inland Norway. Necessary approvals must be maintained throughout the employment relationship.
