About the faculty and the position

The Faculty of Film, TV and Games (FTVS) at the University of Inland Norway (INN) was gathered as one unit from August 1, 2024. The new faculty consists of three departments; the Norwegian Film School, the TV School and the Game School, and aims to create optimal framework conditions for the further development of our audiovisual academic environments. The faculty takes responsibility for artistic education at the highest level with the ambition to be nationally leading and internationally recognized.

We are looking for a studio employee for the faculty's studios and production facilities. You will be part of a competent technical department that works with three of the foremost academic environments in the country within film, TV and game education, and you will be able to contribute to the development of a new and unique faculty. The main workplace will be Lillehammer, but the faculty also has studios in Hamar and Oslo.

We envision an everyday life in the position consisting of a varied working day with follow-up and guidance of the students' activities in the studio, including the construction of scenography and scenery, with a focus on a safe working environment and learning for the students. Operation of the studios, including booking, maintenance and purchase of consumables, in collaboration with the rest of the technical staff. Involvement and participation in relevant development projects in the technical staff and against the academic environments, especially in the use of new technology in studio production. Follow-up of security at external recording sites.


Responsibilities and duties

  • Student guidance/follow-up in connection with the construction of studio decorations
  • Follow-up of HSE, tidiness and order in the faculty's studios
  • Administration and coordination of the faculty's studio resources.
  • Ordering materials, consumables and equipment.
  • Operation of prop and set storage.
  • Planning and design of future studio facilities and studio production needs.

Other tasks can be added to the position as needed.


Qualifications

You must have:

  • A certificate as a carpenter or joiner, or other relevant education. Experience from construction, decoration/scenography, studio operations, or other relevant disciplines can be compensated for a lack of formal education.
  • Competence to manage and carry out construction projects in the studio and on location.
  • Basic Norwegian skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Driver's license Class B.

It is desirable with:

  • Experience with supervision and training of students or pupils
  • Varied studio or stage experience with both physical decorations and digital rigging
  • Relevant HSE skills

It is an advantage with:

  • Project management experience from the film, television and/or theater industry
  • Painting/decorating and patination skills
  • Knowledge of basic design software such as Adobe, SketchUp
  • Driver's license Class BE or C1

Personal qualities:

  • Ability to manage your own workday
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Good tidiness and sense of order
  • Authority and leadership towards students.
  • Motivated, willing to change and curious.

The assessment of which candidate is best qualified will be a comprehensive assessment of education, experience and personal suitability, in addition to motivation and other qualification requirements as formulated in the text of the advertisement.
