Prosjekt JOB:U avd. Stor-Elvdal seeks eager and motivated young people for forest-related summer jobs.
Skogselskapet i Hedmark in collaboration with Stor-Elvdal municipality is looking for 4 young people for a 4-week summer job in forestry. The main goal of the summer job is to provide an introduction to how forestry is practiced today, active forestry courses in young forest care and practice in young forest care/pre-clearing.

Work tasks

• First, each participant will attend a 3-day free course in young forest care and pre-clearing. The course will take place at Sønsterud VGS. Food and accommodation will be included. Salary will not be given during the course period.
• Furthermore, practice will be given with the use of a clearing saw in forest clearing, young forest care and pre-clearing under the guidance of the supervisor.
• Part three will provide an introduction to current forestry based on the following topics:
  • Inspections to look at various forest management tasks, use of digital planning routines
  • Rejuvenation follow-up, look at various measures implemented in recent years
  • Inspections and follow-up of forest roads and bridges, road maintenance and road construction
  • Planning of a forest operation, use of GPS, digital maps and planning by marking up in the field
  • Being with contractors and seeing their everyday life, harvester and loader, timber truck, timber measurement etc.
  • Company visits, look at the value chain from stump to industry

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates from Stor-Elvdal between the ages of 15 and 19 who want to learn more about today's forestry and who want to take an active forestry course in young forest care and practice using a clearing saw.
