Applicants must be interested in forestry, over 15 years of age and in good physical shape (young people over 16 are prioritized). Experience from forestry work is an advantage, but not a requirement. You must be able to get to the forest on your own (we transport saws and gasoline).
We encourage both young people who have not worked for the municipal forest before and young people who have worked with us before to apply.
Young people who have not previously worked in the municipal forest start with a three-day course in young forest care. Exactly where and when this course will be arranged has not yet been decided. The forestry company is responsible for the course. Preliminary information indicates that the course will most likely be held during week 26 at Sønsterud Forest School, but this may change. If the course is held at Sønsterud, expenses for food and accommodation will be covered by the municipal forest, in addition to salary and driving allowance for the course days.
The young people will work for a total of three weeks.
First working week: week 27 (starting June 30)
Vacation in the municipal forest: weeks 28, 29 and 30
Second working week: week 31
Third working week: week 32
We offer training, salary according to the collective agreement, driving allowance according to the state's rates and access to clearing saws. New recruits receive work clothes and protective equipment for the start of the course. This is retained after the completed season.
