The Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit is part of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Gjøvik-Lillehammer division. The department consists of an anesthesia unit, emergency department, intensive care, postoperative and medical services at Gjøvik and Lillehammer, as well as occupational/physiotherapy at Lillehammer.

The emergency department operates observation beds, as well as a 24-hour injury outpatient clinic. We can offer varied and rewarding work tasks:

Intensive:
We are a modern department with monitoring and intensive care function for both medical and surgical patients. The department treats acutely/critically ill patients who require varying degrees of monitoring, treatment and care. The department offers ventilator, dialysis and mask treatment, and is part of the treatment team for cardiac arrest, acute stroke and mobile emergency team for stabilization on the ward.

Duties

  • Emergency department:
  • Receive emergency admissions, provide emergency medical care that safeguards life and health
  • Where otherwise not possible, provide palliative nursing care
  • Be involved in teamwork in acute conditions
  • Accept elective patients and perform nursing tasks required for further investigation and treatment to be initiated
  • Operation of acute surgical/medical emergency outpatient clinic 24 hours a day
  • Care/grief support for relatives in the event of sudden and unexpected death, where the deceased arrives/is in the emergency department
  • Operation of the observation post
  • Assist in keeping the department clean and tidy
  • Transport patients to the ward
  • Tasks are adapted to the individual's qualifications

Intensive care:

  • Nursing care for monitoring and acutely critical patients
  • Nursing care for post-operative patients
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Provide palliative nursing care where other treatment is not possible
  • Assist in keeping the ward clean and tidy
  • Nursing assistants assist nurses in grooming, replenishes and cleans goods, prepares rooms, keeps order in the department
  • Tasks are adapted to the individual's qualifications

Qualifications

  • Norwegian authorization as a nurse
  • Nurse with relevant further education
  • Nursing students completed 2 years
  • Medical students, should have previous nursing experience
  • Authorization as a health professional
  • Nursing experience
  • Be fluent in written and spoken Norwegian
  • Desirable that you can work at least 6 weeks during the summer
  • Desirable with knowledge of patient administration system DIPS and Metavision
  • Be fluent in written and spoken Norwegian
  • General computer skills
