We are looking for an editor-in-chief and general manager for Hamar Arbeiderblad


Access to local news, events, culture and sports helps to create identity, unity and awareness in a local community.

Hamar Arbeiderblad will be the preferred information channel for the entire Hamar region, regardless of platform. We will put new topics and issues on the agenda and highlight local businesses. We are therefore looking for an editor-in-chief who is able to create positive engagement around the Hamar region's most important newspaper. The job requires solid editorial management experience and a good understanding of digital development work.

As editor-in-chief at Hamar Arbeiderblad, you always put the reader first and use insight and analysis to ensure that the newspaper changes in line with readers and society. The editor-in-chief must have a good understanding of the press's ethical framework, and be able to manage the publishing platform by being a guarantor that the newspaper maintains its objectivity and relevance. The right candidate combines editorial and commercial flair with solid implementation power.

To succeed in the position, it is crucial that you are an inspiring and unifying leader who is able to develop well-functioning teams. You are committed, curious, willing to learn and development-oriented.

Your responsibilities as general manager include being part of the group management team and responsible for the media part of the group.You act as chairman of Stangeavisa and Lokalavisa Trysil Engerdal, both of which have their own editors.The group is growing and developing and a good and strong partnership has been established with Amedia through the use of updated news technology and analysis systems.

Desired qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leading an editorial environment
  • Proven ability to carry out editorial content development
  • Relevant higher education, e.g. from journalism, communication or political science
  • Solid understanding of media development and digitalization
  • Good business understanding and commercial mindset
  • Good collaboration skills, both internally and externally
