The Leisure unit is part of the Leisure & Service department at the municipal management administration in Kiruna municipality The unit is responsible for the operation of Kiruna municipality's leisure and sports facilities throughout the municipality. It is an important mission where the public interest is great and where we meet Kiruna's citizens in different ways every day. The swimming and leisure units as a whole have about 40 employees and the leisure unit about 20 employees. We are in an exciting and challenging development phase both in terms of our organization and our facilities. Together with our employees, we make a difference. We are now looking for an operational unit manager for the business. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As head of unit at the Leisure unit, you are organizationally subordinate to the head of department for leisure, service, AME/integration, at the municipal management administration. At the leisure unit, you have staff responsibility for around 20 people. You will lead the operational activities with the support of an established committed work management organization out at our larger facilities. Creating the right conditions and resources for their work is an important part of your mission. Several of our operations are important resources for both Kiruna residents' recreation and a growing tourism industry. You are expected to work in an outward-looking and responsive manner towards both citizens and the industry, and together with our employees, strengthen confidence in our more commercial legs and increase its revenue. In your role, you will be expected to contribute to the management team, both regarding your own unit, but also related to the development of the entire business of the department, and the administration. A horizontal perspective is a prerequisite where we constantly have an eye for creating synergies, quality development and more efficient working methods in an organization where we share a broad responsibility and support each other in our missions. We work in a politically governed organization that ultimately sets our mandates and frameworks for the business where you as head of unit play an important role in ensuring that the municipal management has correct and relevant information in its decision-making. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for people with an academic background in public administration, social sciences or political processes and/or work experience that the employer considers equivalent. However, the focus is on the operational management of the Leisure operations, where the requirements are good customer service, good hospitality and good service. Therefore, we also value work management or process management roles in business activities in, for example, construction, industry or the hospitality industry. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both in speech and in writing, is a requirement as you as an expert on the operational side will be an important support to management in the department's overall mission to deliver and present service letters and documentation for decisions to municipal management. You are expected to work in a way that creates commitment and encourages others to develop. We expect you to be service-oriented and happy to handle both long-term and short-term strategic issues. We attach great importance to your personal qualities. You should be able to lead, manage and develop the activities, and you should also be able to manage and develop your staff. To thrive in this role, you should be able to work independently, be flexible and creative. We apply a fixed-term managerial contract in combination with a basic position that is permanent within the municipality.
