JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you passionate about human rights issues and want to help create an inclusive municipality for everyone? As part of that work, Kiruna municipality is now looking for a minority language and accessibility coordinator.
Kiruna municipality is an administrative area for the three national minority languages Finnish, Meänkieli and Sami. Being an administrative area means, among other things, that the municipality has a responsibility to work to strengthen and make visible the local cultures, actively work for the revitalization of the languages and encourage the use of Finnish, Meänkieli and Sami in the public space.
The municipality of Kiruna is undergoing a historic social transformation, with parts of the city center being moved and demolished. This creates great opportunities to influence and develop a more inclusive and accessible environment for all.
Minority languages
You coordinate the municipality's minority language work based on the laws and regulations that exist in the area. You convene consultation meetings with representatives of the national minorities and are responsible for meeting administration. The assignment also includes responsibility for the municipality's reporting of the government grant to the follow-up authorities.
Accessibility
In the role of accessibility coordinator, you will play a central role in driving and developing the municipality's work on accessibility and disability perspectives. Among other things, you will administer and coordinate the municipal accessibility council, a body for consultation and collaboration with the local organizations that engage people with disabilities.
The position of minority language and accessibility coordinator includes independently pursuing and following up cases in the areas, supporting the administrations in their work on these issues and keeping up to date through external monitoring in the areas in order to contribute to developing Kiruna municipality's work.
The assignment as an administrator involves independently preparing various types of decision-making documents for political consideration. In everyday life, it can involve writing consultation responses and opinions and answering questions from citizens. The tasks and responsibilities may vary over time. You will often have a deadline to work towards.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have at least a university degree in public administration, political science or another field or experience that the employer deems suitable for the position, as well as experience in working independently with case management. It is an advantage if you have worked and have experience in the field of national minorities, minority languages or human rights.
You need to have a good knowledge of Swedish and English with particularly good ability to express yourself in writing. You will need to be familiar with computer-based administration and digital business systems.
To thrive in the role of minority language and accessibility coordinator/administrator, you should be driven, structured, norm-critical and relationship-building as you interact both internally and externally with many different target groups. This means that you also need to be communicative. The assignments can come at short notice, which is why you also need to be flexible and have the ability to prioritize.
