Business area Special Products is a business where we are both an internal product and service supplier to LKAB:s core business, as well as a growing and significant external player that develops and markets industrial minerals for the construction, agricultural and cleantech industries, as well as drilling technology and full-service solutions for the mining and construction industry.

A large part of our business is based on a driven innovation and development work for more sustainable products, where we, for example, plan for an industrial park for critical minerals in Luleå for the utilization of residual materials and extraction / production of products, including phosphorus and rare earth metals.

Your tasks

The category buyer is responsible for leading and driving the category-based purchasing work in the Special Products business area within a number of priority categories. This work is based on the business area's business plan and the current action plan for Purchasing. As a category buyer, you will be involved in the development of a partially centralized purchasing function and the role will develop in line with the growth and needs of the business.

Examples of responsibilities and tasks:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of category-based working methods, including the development of procedures, structures and purchasing support;
  • Develop category strategies with associated activities in close collaboration with our companies and other specialists and carry out and implement category projects;
  • Within the framework of your area of responsibility, conduct negotiations, enter into commercial agreements with subsequent implementation and follow-up.
  • Conduct analysis of purchasing behaviors and in a systematic and fact-based way drive activities for behavioral change;
  • Systematically develop existing and future suppliers based on the needs of the business and LKAB's business goals;
  • Conduct purchasing work in accordance with LKAB's policies, guidelines and applicable procedures.

You ensure sustainable purchasing at the lowest total cost which also includes a safe workplace free of accidents, resource efficiency, innovative technical solutions, quality, logistics, service and minimized risk exposure.

You report to the Purchasing Manager Category Management and Development within the Special Products business area.

Your qualifications

The role requires you to have a structured approach and be able to look at the development of category purchasing from a strategic holistic perspective. As a person, you are driven by doing good business from a total cost perspective and see opportunities with change and development. You are committed and have a trusting and businesslike approach. You promote and maintain a culture that delivers high-quality work, efficient working methods, active collaboration, good communication and a constructive working climate.

You bring cutting-edge expertise in procurement, purchasing law, contract law and contract writing.

You are stimulated by solving problems and contributing to efficiency improvements. You are also used to communicating and documenting your work on an ongoing basis and can switch between Swedish and English in your communication.

To thrive in the role, we see that you have:

  • an educational background as a civil engineer or economist with relevant specialization,
  • experience in category-driven purchasing and commercial negotiations and at least five years of experience in a purchasing function;
  • good knowledge of contracting and purchasing law;
  • ability to make good contacts and be responsive to business needs for purchasing, product and technology development;
  • experience from the construction industry is meritorious
