LKAB's transformation will require large investments, where the importance of the right work methodology and choice of technology will be decisive for maximum value to be created and utilized. All primary production systems will be reviewed.

  • Within the mining production area, the design for mining, logistics and infrastructure needs to be developed so that technology and methods become significantly more efficient compared to today's mines. The ore must be mined at an even greater depth with the following challenges in efficiency, safety, volume and costs.
  • Within processing, new efficient processing processes must be developed to meet future demands for fossil-free pellets and sponge iron production. Increasingly strict environmental requirements need to be dealt with as well as challenges in the form of new, more complex minerals.
  • LKAB's logistics system from mines and rail to the ports needs an overhaul. The next generation of locomotives and wagons are automated, have higher energy efficiency and can handle an increased axle load.

Your role

As a systems engineer/analyst at LKAB, you will work with advanced process technology that is at the forefront of many technical areas. Your task will be to ensure that our processes meet the high requirements set by our clients.

You will analyze and create a fundamental understanding of our existing processes and products, and then assess whether new technologies and production solutions are competitive. You will also participate in various types of technical investigations to ensure efficient production.

We work with a model-based approach (MBSE) in order to handle the complexity of LKAB's production system and business in a structured and methodical way.

The expectations for you as a systems engineer/analyst is that you must have sufficient breadth to understand the whole of our processes and products, but also enough depth to be able to communicate how the system is supposed to work with those responsible for systems, subsystems and components. You will be involved in many technical areas and your contact areas within the company will be broad.

You have this with you

  • Disputed in relevant subject area, alt. Are you a civil engineer with solid work experience?
  • Knowledge of technical modeling and having worked with various programming languages, for example Python, MATLAB, Simulink, Dymola, etc.
  • Experience of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and associated standards such as UAF and SysML is advantageous but not a requirement.
  • Insight into AI is also valuable for future system development work.
  • You have good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
