The Department of Systems and Space Engineering is responsible for research and education in, among other things, electrical engineering, signal processing and control engineering at Luleå University of Technology. One research area at the department is cyber-physical systems, which works experimentally and needs-driven. In the context of large EU projects, the subject works on architecture, reference implementation and system platform for the System of Cyber Physical Systems, SoCPS. We now need to hire an assistant professor to strengthen the team. Subject description Cyber Physical Systems encompasses integrated software, electronics hardware and application architecture in connected devices and distributed systems. The research aims to create secure, autonomous and evolvable solutions that interact with each other and their environment, from edge to cloud. Responsibilities The tasks include supervising PhD students, initiating research projects and independently driving the research area forward. Qualifications Those who have demonstrated both scientific and teaching skills are eligible for employment as assistant professor. Equal attention shall be paid to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific skills. To meet the requirements for appointment as an assistant professor, the applicant shall - demonstrate a research profile with clear progression after the thesis work and scientific contributions equivalent to at least two doctoral theses including the doctoral thesis - have worked as an independent researcher, including - experience of research-related positions of trust, for example as a reviewer for journals and/or opponent - experience of applying for and being awarded external funding for research and/or development projects in competition - experience of having had a leading role in research projects - having published together with researchers in research environments other than your own - have experience of supervision at doctoral level and have acted as co-supervisor for at least one doctoral student for at least two years, unless there are exceptional reasons for otherwise - demonstrate pedagogical competence through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development[1] - demonstrate the ability to interact with the surrounding community, including by - making new knowledge available to the wider community - incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts.
