Electric Power Engineering in Skellefteå has a good national and international reputation for its leading research, is a world leader in power quality, and has a good national reputation for, among other things, its undergraduate education in electrical networks. Over the years, the group's research results have received attention from both industry and academia.
The group currently consists of two additional professors, one associate professor, and 18 PhD students, in addition to the acting chair.
As an Associate Senior Lecturer, you will strengthen the group and broaden the research activities as well as teach students. Possible research specializations are:
- Power quality with focus on waveform distortion
- Contact line networks and other industrial networks
- Processing and analysis of large amounts of data from measurements in power systems
Subject description
Electric power engineering includes the study of sustainable systems for electricity generation and transportation of electrical
energy, and the interaction between electricity grids, electricity generation and electricity use
Duties and responsibilities
As an Associate Senior Lecturer, you will conduct research in a subfield of Electric Power Engineering (to be determined by you in consultation with the Head of Subject), contribute to undergraduate and graduate education in Electric Power Engineering and related fields, supervise postgraduate students, and initiate and carry out externally-funded research projects in Electric Power Engineering
Eligibility
To meet the requirements for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer, the applicant shall
- have a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree
Priority should be given to those who have obtained a doctoral degree no more than five years before the application deadline. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons are defined as leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, positions of trust, or similar circumstances.
Assessment criteria
The following assessment criteria apply to the position:
- Scientific excellence
- Other assessment criteria
- experience in planning and performing power engineering measurements in both laboratory and field environments
- knowledge of one or more of the relevant research directions, power quality with a focus on waveform distortion, processing and analysis of large amounts of data from measurements in power systems, overhead line networks and other industrial networks
- ability to interact with the surrounding society, in particular companies and organizations in the field of electric power engineering
- ability to inform other researchers and the surrounding community about research and development work
- pedagogical merits in the form of completed pedagogical training and teaching experience
- good knowledge of English and Swedish
- administrative skills that are of importance with regard to the subject matter and the tasks involved in the position
Period of employment
The period of employment for this post is four years.
Promotion to Senior Lecturer
An Associate Senior Lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to Senior Lecturer and appointed for an indefinite period. If he/she is qualified for employment as a senior lecturer and is assessed as suitable for such employment in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below.
At the assessment, the associate senior lecturer must have completed a course in higher education pedagogy equivalent to 7.5 credits or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way.
During the period of employment, the associate senior lecturer must also have contributed independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, to the university's research and demonstrated good teaching skills.
