The Division of Forensic Science at Luleå University of Technology is part of the Division of Social Sciences at the Department of Business, Technology, Arts and Society. In addition to law, the division consists of the subject units political science, history and economics with a total of about 80 employees. The research at the various subjects within the division is focused on various social science aspects of the environment and natural resources. The unit is in an expansive phase and needs to strengthen the subject's teaching and research.
Subject description
Jurisprudence is the scientific study of legal rules and their creation, content and application. The legal science research at Luleå University of Technology is focused on environmental and natural resource law in a broad sense and includes such parts of civil law, public law, international law and EU law that are related to the utilization and management of natural resources and energy, as well as for environmental and nature conservation.
Duties and responsibilities
Your duties will include both teaching and research and related tasks. Research will primarily focus on issues related to permitting processes for industrial activities, but other themes may also be relevant. Teaching includes course planning and development, course responsibility, examination and supervision in the Bachelor of Law program and in law courses in other programs. Teaching at the bachelor's level is without exception in Swedish. The undergraduate program in Law at Luleå University of Technology includes both civil and public law subjects, as well as legal theory and method. The work also includes actively participating in the subject's development work regarding research, research applications and collaboration with other subjects and the surrounding society.
Eligibility
To meet the requirements for employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer, the applicant must
- have a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree
Priority should be given to those who have completed a doctoral degree within five years of the application deadline. However, those who have completed a doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons are defined as leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

- In addition to scientific competence, it is an advantage if the applicant has documented competence and experience of teaching in several areas of law
- Experience of working empirically and theoretically with legal issues of relevance to the use and management of natural resources

- Good knowledge of both Swedish and English, both in speech and in writing
- Experience from formulating project applications
- Ability to cooperate with the surrounding community
- Pedagogical skills
Period of employment
Tenure of four years.
Examination for senior lecturer
The purpose of the appointment is to give the teacher the opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to gain merit both scientifically and pedagogically in order to meet the requirements for eligibility for employment as a senior lecturer.
An Associate Senior Lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to Senior Lecturer and an appointment until further notice if he/she is qualified for an appointment as Senior Lecturer, and is assessed as suitable for such an appointment according to the assessment criteria stated below.
During the assessment, the associate senior lecturer must have completed a course in higher education pedagogy equivalent to 7.5 credits or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way.
During the period of employment, the associate senior lecturer must also have contributed independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, to the university's research and demonstrated good teaching skills.
