The Machine Learning Research Laboratory is looking for a PhD student in the field of machine learning. We offer state-of-the-art resources for conducting research and a good academic network in Sweden and abroad. Subject description Machine learning focuses on methods by which computer systems use data to improve their own performance, understanding and to make concrete predictions and is closely related to applications. Project description As a PhD student, you are part of a project that aims to explore machine learning methods for document analysis. The project includes methods for data preprocessing, analysis of different data sources, combination of these sources and development of an adjustable end-to-end system for document analysis. You will work with researchers at LTU and regional and national archives in Sweden. The Machine Learning Group encourages national and international collaboration for the overall development of its researchers. Job duties A doctoral position involves both theoretical and practical work. As a doctoral student, you are trained in scientific work in the form of publishing scientific articles in journals and at national and international conferences. Most of your time you focus on your own studies. You can also have the opportunity to try out the teaching role. Qualifications We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student who wants to conduct state-of-the-art research. You must have a master's degree in computer science or a similar subject. Experience with machine learning, Deep Learning, statistics and Natural Language Processing is a requirement. You must have good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, and have the capacity to work independently as well as in a team.
