The research subject of industrial marketing plays an important role in all of the university's business programmes, as well as in the Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management. In research, we currently focus on areas such as brand development, consumer behaviour, tourism, digitalisation and small and medium-sized enterprises, and we are constantly working to develop new project ideas. We operate in an international environment, bringing together staff and students from different countries. To support our research and teaching in the long term, we are now looking for a PhD student who wants to work with creative and analytical problem solving, often in collaboration with organizations and companies. For complete ad please visit ltu.se/ledigajobb Project description The PhD student will work on the ACCENT project, which focuses on arts, culture and creativity for entrepreneurial networking and tourism. This interdisciplinary project gives the PhD student the opportunity to expand the application of marketing concepts in the context of regional development and sustainable tourism. The aim of ACCENT is to develop sustainable cultural and creative tourism initiatives in Sweden and Finland in collaboration with various academic and regional cross-border organizations. The PhD student will contribute to running workshops with Living Labs and Design Thinking methods, develop evidence-based business practices and help establish collaborations between universities, regional authorities, businesses and stakeholders. As a PhD student and researcher, the role offers a unique chance to influence sustainable tourism development in the cross-border Bothnian Arc region. Work tasks A PhD position involves both theoretical and practical work. You will learn how to run long-term and challenging projects, from problem formulation to final reporting. The PhD student is trained in scientific work in the form of publishing scientific articles in journals and presentations at international conferences. Doctoral students also take postgraduate courses. In addition, you will get a taste of the teaching role by teaching some of the courses offered in the Economics or Industrial Economics programs. You will be part of a team of researchers, teachers and PhD students in industrial marketing. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to influence the activities of the subject and participate in development work. Qualifications Basic eligibility for studies at the doctoral level means a degree at the second-cycle level with completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the second-cycle level. Alternatively, equivalent knowledge has been acquired in some other way within or outside the country. In addition to the basic eligibility requirement, knowledge of business administration or industrial economics with a specialization in marketing or a related subject is required. In the selection of candidates, we attach great importance to your personal qualities, your ability and potential to conduct research, and your interest and potential to teach. Applicants should be thorough, analytical, and have good initiative and communication skills. It is important that you can collaborate in a team but also work independently. Research and teaching take place in an international environment where understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity is important. As scientific publications and presentations are in English, you will need to be able to express yourself fluently in English both in writing and orally. Teaching in English may also be part of the duties. It is also a great advantage if you are fluent in Swedish in speech and writing so that you can collect data in Sweden and teach courses given in Swedish. For the research project, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of Finnish and/or one of the Sami languages spoken in northern Sweden and Finland. Knowledge of Meänkieli may also be advantageous. Previous experience working with scientific publishing, popular science communication, and/or teaching is an advantage. Work experience in marketing, project management or similar areas is also an advantage. Further information Employment as a PhD student is full-time and limited to four years. Teaching or other departmental duties may be added with up to 20% of full-time. Start date according to agreement.
