This research will address both the technological and pedagogical aspects of AI adoption, ensuring that AI’s integration into education is accessible, ethical, and impactful. Machine learning focuses on computational methods by which computer systems uses data to improve their own performance, understanding, and to make accurate predictions and has a close connection to applications.
Project description
With the rapid growth of AI, new opportunities emerge to personalize learning, improve engagement, and develop adaptive learning environments. This project explores how state-of-the-art AI technologies can revolutionize education. The work will align with LTU’s broader aim of promoting AI-driven pedagogy innovation in Northern Sweden and beyond, fostering societal benefits and industry collaboration.
The project will investigate how AI can be introduced to learners, educators, and professionals from different sectors, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
The focus will be on:
-AI-Powered Pedagogy – Exploring how machine learning can personalize learning experiences and improve student engagement.
-Adaptive and Intelligent Learning Systems – Designing AI-driven education platforms that adjust to learners' backgrounds, cognitive abilities, and prior knowledge.
-AI in Workforce Development – Investigating how AI education can reskill and upskill professionals across industries.
Duties
The postdoctoral researcher will:
-Conduct cutting-edge research on AI-driven pedagogy and methods for introducing AI across different sectors.
-Develop AI-based educational models for personalized, adaptive learning experiences.
-Investigate how AI can be ethically and responsibly integrated into education and training.
-Contribute to interdisciplinary projects on AI-driven pedagogy.
-Mentor or supervise Ph.D. students and master students working on AI in education.
-Plan, carry out and evaluate education in our Applied AI programs as well as other AI-related courses, or other “institution duties”, such as light administrative tasks or help planning and organizing a conference (up to 20%)
Qualifications
We are looking for a very motivated and enthusiastic postdoc researcher who has the following:
-Doctoral degree in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or educational/pedagogical technology awarded within the last three years, or near completion).
-Knowledge in AI-driven education or AI-powered adaptive learning systems.
-Proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing with applications in education.
-Understanding of pedagogical theories and human-centered AI.
-Publication record in AI, machine learning, and education.
-Solid programming skills in Python or similar languages.
-As a person you are a strong analytical thinking and have problem-solving abilities. You are excellent in written and oral communication skills in English, and you can work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and dynamic research team.
