The built environment sector is facing major challenges in the areas of; energy & raw materials, environment & climate, urbanization and work environment and safety. The Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering (SBN) focuses on meeting some of these challenges through education, research and innovations to contribute to the development of a sustainable society. The introduction of more collaborative and innovation-oriented procurement at different stages of the construction and management process has been one of the initiatives highlighted recently to achieve a more sustainable built environment. At the research subject Construction Production and Technology, a lot of research is going on on procurement, collaboration and innovation linked to ProcSIBE (https://www.procsibe.se/), which is a well-established interdisciplinary network for research and development related to procurement in the built environment sector. The research spans the entire construction and management process from planning and design, to production and operation & maintenance. Subject description Construction Production and Technology covers technical solutions, tools, methods and organization for planning, information management and control of a sustainable and integrated industrial construction process with associated business processes. Project description The postdoctoral position is linked to ProcSIBE and more specifically to the research involving procurement in the infrastructure sector together with the Swedish Transport Administration. You will be involved in a newly started research project where the researchers will use qualitative methods to study several of the Swedish Transport Administration's innovation procurements, and in an ongoing research project where the researchers study collaborative operation & maintenance contracts with the Swedish Transport Administration as the client. Important research areas will be procurement, collaboration, innovation and sustainable development. Work tasks You are expected to have a strong interest in research and development and to contribute to the development of externally funded research programs. You will develop procurement, management and organization of construction and management processes in the infrastructure sector with a focus on areas such as collaboration, innovation and sustainable development. The aim is to develop knowledge and processes for procurement, management and organization that can be used in the civil engineering sector. You are expected to collaborate with industry and academia in a way that creates good conditions for new projects and an expanded collaboration network. In addition to working to develop the research topic concerned, collaboration on supervision of doctoral students and teaching is seen as an important part of the service. Undergraduate education is a strong pillar for the department/research subject and the position includes teaching to a maximum of 20 percent, mainly in the areas of project management, design and production in civil engineering. Qualifications To be eligible for employment, a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in a research subject relevant to the position is required. It is an advantage if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the start of this position. If there are special reasons, those who have obtained a doctoral degree earlier may be considered, for example in the case of various types of statutory leave. Since the position involves collaboration between industry and academia, we believe that you should have good knowledge of both Swedish and English in both speech and writing. Meritorious for the position is experience of undergraduate and graduate education in areas that the applicant justifies as being relevant to the position, and that you have completed higher education pedagogical training. The place of employment is Luleå and the position includes some teaching that will take place on site at the university's campus in Luleå. Intended access 2025-01-01.
