The Division of Energy Sciences at Luleå University of Technology is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on research in thermochemical conversion technologies, e.g., biomass combustion and gasification, hydrogen and biomass value chain integration, and biochar production technologies. Subject description Energy Engineering covers the development of technologies and processes for a sustainable energy supply. Our research is focused on biofuel technology and energy efficient utilization in industry and society. Project description You will work in some of the following areas - Sustainable combustion technologies, e.g. oxyfuel, hydrogen, plasma or metal combustion - Gasification of powder biomass (entrained flow gasification) - Electrolyzers in industrial environment - Development and integration of biomass gasification with power-to-X - Pyrolysis of biomass The work will be carried out as part of national or European projects, often with industrial partners. Targeted results will be produced, characterized and demonstrated and published in highly ranked journals and conferences. Duties and responsibilities The position usually involves working in collaboration with both academia and industrial partners in Europe. Collaboration with industry is therefore essential. In this, you will work closely with other LTU researchers and participate in the supervision of PhD students. The position mainly includes work with research projects. Teaching and pedagogical development work is also included. The holder of the position is expected to contribute in: - Research in funded projects in collaboration with other senior researchers and PhD students at the Department of Energy Sciences and LTU Green Fuels. - Funding activities defined in collaboration with other senior researchers. - University education at MSc and PhD level, teaching and supervision. - Increase R&I collaboration between the Department of Energy Sciences, LTU Green Fuels and industrial partners - Contribute to a healthy and forward-looking working climate at the Division of Energy Technology, TVM, and Luleå University of Technology. Qualifications To be eligible for employment, a PhD or equivalent foreign degree in energy technology or equivalent is required. It is an advantage if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the closing date for applications for this position. If there are special reasons, those who have obtained a doctorate earlier may be considered, for example in the case of various types of statutory leave. Additional requirements - Very good oral and written knowledge of English. - Experience working in an international environment - Good academic writing skills. - Experience in research in biomass combustion and gasification - Good knowledge of gas and particulate flow in powder burners - Experience in image analysis of flame The following skills and knowledge are an asset - Practical and engineering experience in industrial combustion processes - Experience in international research collaboration - Maintenance of laboratory equipment - Biomass and biochar analysis - Excellent problem solving and collaboration skills - Teaching at university level in English Information to be provided Temporary employment on a full-time basis for two years with the possibility of extension for another year.
