Luleå University of Technology is in an expansive phase and is implementing several initiatives to strengthen research and education in areas related to the green transition and the electrification of society. The Electronics Systems group is expanding and we are looking for a professor to strengthen our competence in the field of electromagnetic modeling and simulation. It is the ongoing electrification that gives rise to an increasing amount of interference sources and negative impact effects that is the main background for the recruitment need. We are looking for someone with a background in electromagnetic computation to contribute in our externally funded projects. The position is located at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering where Luleå University of Technology has gathered research in electronics, control engineering, robotics and signal processing. The department's turnover is about SEK 330 million, where education accounts for half and external funds for research for the other half. The department has well-developed collaborations with research institutes, industry partners, universities and other authorities in both research projects and student projects. Subject description Electronic Systems covers electronics design, measurement technology and electromagnetic compatibility for control, monitoring and instrumentation of technical processes and systems, with close and broad links to applications and applied research. Job description We are looking for you with a profile towards electromagnetic computation, preferably in integral equation based methods. Areas such as macromodeling and uncertainty quantification in computational electromagnetics are of importance for the current activities of the group and for future development. As a professor, your tasks include both research and teaching, where the current need is mainly in research. The tasks include project work, project management and reporting. The group also has a need to strengthen its opportunities for European funding, which means that tasks also include working to ensure that external research funds are provided to the subject from e.g. Chips JU or similar. National funding sources such as Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency are also of great importance. Supervision of student projects, degree projects and doctoral students are included as tasks. Finally, it is important for the group to be externally active and visible in the field and communicate progress orally and in writing. Eligibility Qualified to be employed as a professor are those who have demonstrated both scientific and teaching skills. Equal attention will be paid to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence. To meet the requirements for appointment as professor, the applicant shall - be outstanding in his/her field of study and have a record of scholarly activity of a high international standard, showing a clear progression in quality - have a total scholarly output equivalent in quantity to at least three doctoral theses including the doctoral dissertation - demonstrate academic leadership, including through - experience of research-related positions of trust as an expert, opponent and/or member of an examination committee - experience in research project management - experience of applying for and being awarded external funding for research projects in competition as principal applicant - experience of internal assignments within the university - experience of pedagogical leadership - have experience of supervision at doctoral level and, unless there are exceptional reasons, have been the principal supervisor of at least one doctoral student throughout the period from admission to the doctoral degree - demonstrate pedagogical skills through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development - demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, through, among other things - making new knowledge available to the surrounding community - incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts.
