The Department of Health, Learning and Technology (HLT) is an academic meeting place where scientific perspectives on knowledge about learning and health are brought together. The department offers degree programs at bachelor's, master's and master's level and in several subjects also education at doctoral level leading to a doctoral degree. The Department of Health, Education and Technology offers many programs and courses in the humanities and natural sciences. HLT consists of three departments with about 220 employees and more than 2500 students with research in nine research subjects. The Department of Pedagogy, Language and Subject Didactics has extensive activities with research, development and teaching in undergraduate education, contract education and independent courses linked to teacher education, preschool and school. We intend to strengthen the subject competence in the field of mathematics and science education and are now looking for a senior lecturer with competence in mathematics and science education.
Subject description
Mathematics and science education is concerned with teaching and learning in the mathematical and science-oriented subjects at different levels of the education system. It provides a scientific basis for developing and strengthening teaching by investigating teaching and learning processes, how specific subject content is communicated in different contexts, and how individuals and groups at different levels of education develop and use knowledge. Particular focus is on students' motivation, skills and approaches to the subject area, and the development of teaching methods in modern learning environments.
Duties and responsibilities
In your role as senior lecturer, you will mainly work with teaching in teacher education, primarily with the didactics of mathematics in the subject teacher program, but also teaching in the didactics of natural sciences in primary teacher education may be included. The position also includes management assignments within the education leader function. The tasks also include supervision and participation in research and development work at undergraduate, advanced and postgraduate level.
You will play an important role in our development and quality work and bring experience to the relevant areas of activity. You will be expected to be involved in research environments, in research projects and, where appropriate, in doctoral education. It is of great importance that you feel comfortable in communicating research results through academic publications. Furthermore, interaction with the surrounding society is an important part of the tasks and to follow the international development of the subject. You will also work with management and administrative tasks in the subject teacher program.
Eligibility
Qualified to be employed as a senior lecturer are those who:
- A doctorate or equivalent academic qualifications or other professional skills relevant to the post.
- Demonstrated pedagogical competence through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development.
- Completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 7.5 credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
