The Piteå School of Music is a small music college in the coastal town of Piteå, close to nature. At the School of Music, musicians are trained in various genres. Internationally leading research in musical performance is conducted here in collaboration with research centers in Europe and the USA. At the School of Music, research and education are integrated and carried out in close collaboration with the regional musical life in Norrbotten. In the same building as the School of Music, there is also Studio Acusticum with the university organ. We are now looking for a dynamic choir conductor and educator whose main tasks are to teach choral conducting to bachelor's and master's students and to lead and develop the school's choir activities, including the School of Music's Chamber Choir. Subject description Musical performance is a research subject in which problems relevant to musical creation and learning are investigated. The subject combines forms of knowledge in art and science and encompasses the entire musical field, regardless of genre or form of expression. Duties and responsibilities Senior Lecturers are expected to contribute to the development work of the University, to contribute to external research funding for the subject and to participate in/show interest in management and administrative tasks. For senior lecturers in artistic activities, this also includes participating in artistic development work and/or research projects and communicating their results through artistic works and/or academic publications. Furthermore, it includes being active in your own artistic field. As a senior lecturer in Piteå at the School of Music, you will mainly teach choral conducting. Teaching in choral conducting is mainly given to students in the artistic bachelor's program with a focus on church music, as well as master's students in conducting. You will also teach in other programs, and be responsible for independent courses in conducting. Research in Musical Performance is conducted in collaboration with the professional music community, but also interdisciplinary with other research disciplines and in collaboration with other art forms. Conducting the chamber choir and teaching choral conducting is currently a 50% position. The possibility to extend the position exists depending on your interests and skills. The position can be extended in the following areas: - Organ/liturgical organ - Classical singing - Music theory/audition - Music history - Piano The position also includes administration and collaborative projects, including responsibility for directing choirs in the School of Music's annual Christmas concert. Eligibility To qualify for the position of Senior Lecturer in Artistic Activities, the applicant must: - Have artistic competence equivalent to a doctoral degree or have completed a doctoral degree relevant to the position - have a good national level as an artistic practitioner and/or as a researcher, where the requirement for merit shall be assessed with regard to the nature and tradition of the subject area - Demonstrate pedagogical excellence through reflective experience, teaching skills and teaching development - Have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 7.5 credits, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge Assessment criteria The following assessment criteria apply to the position: - Proven artistic excellence, e.g. quality, recognition, artistic training and experience, productivity - Demonstrated pedagogical excellence, e.g. documented experience in teaching and pedagogical development - Other assessment criteria Other assessment criteria (weighted equally) - The degree of proficiency that is a requirement for eligibility - Proficiency in a Scandinavian language - Ability to teach in English - Ability to promote the further development of the School of Music - The ability to cooperate and administer, and to be present in the activities - Ability to interact with the surrounding community Great importance will be attached to your personal qualities.
