Luleå University of Technology is growing rapidly with world-leading expertise in several research areas. We shape the future through innovative education and groundbreaking research results, and based on the Arctic region, we create global social benefits. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national and regional companies, public actors and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has a total turnover of SEK 2 billion per year. We are currently 1,900 employees and have 17,900 students. In the coming years, billions of kronor will be invested in Norrbotten and Västerbotten in major projects aimed at a more sustainable society nationally as well as globally. Luleå University of Technology is involved in several of these highly topical research projects and the social transformation that follows. We have a wide range of programs to match the skills that are in demand. We hope that you will help us build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.
Luleå University of Technology is Sweden's leading university in the fields of field robotics with unique laboratories for field robotics, deep learning and human-computer interaction. In addition, it is Sweden's leading university in industrial collaboration. The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI) group at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is now looking for researchers to contribute to our growing activities. The RAI group conducts fundamental research in all aspects of robotics with a specific focus on aerial, ground and space robotics. RAI's vision aims to reduce the gap from theory to reality, while the group has a strong expertise in field robotics. Specific application areas are robotics for mines, construction sites, aerial inspection of ageing infrastructure, search and rescue with multi-robotics, sensor fusion and multi-robot coordination, including perception, decentralization and mission execution.
The RAI team has a strong European participation in several R&D&I projects. RAI has also participated in the DARPA SUB-T challenge with the CoSTAR team led by NASA/JPL.
The RAI group is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), Sweden's largest ever single research program, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems that act in collaboration with humans, adapt to their environment through sensors, information and knowledge, and form intelligent systems-of-systems. WASP's vision is excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software for the benefit of Swedish industry.
To strengthen our team in robotics and AI, we are recruiting researchers working in one or more of the following areas of autonomous systems (robotics) in the technical area of human-robot interaction/coexistence in complex and unstructured environments:
- Fusion of Neuroscience and Robotics for augmenting human capabilities
- Motion Primitives, Learning Motion patterns, Learning from demonstration
- Robotic Assistive Devices for enhancing the human capabilities
- Distributed Control of Autonomous Systems
- Motion Tasks for Robotic Manipulators
