The research subject "Operation and Maintenance" conducts research and training in operational safety, asset management and risk management. The Industrial AI & eMaintenance research group develops technologies, methods and tools based on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, for advanced analysis of complex technical systems.
The Department of Operations and Maintenance Engineering currently has about 40 employees, which in turn is part of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering (SBN) with about 430 employees.
Subject description
Operation and Maintenance Engineering covers the development of technologies to ensure high reliability, efficient maintenance processes, and life cycle management of systems and facilities.
Project description
As a Principal Research Engineer, you will work together with other researchers to develop our platform 'AI Factory', at the Division of Operations and Maintenance Engineering. The work is part of a number of externally funded projects in areas such as rail, battery, construction and mining. The development work will focus on developing AI algorithms, improving the visualization interface with AR, VR and gaming technologies as well as further developing our cybersecurity platform with Blockchain. The main task will be data collection, data security, data analysis and visualization using applicable methods and technologies in a cloud/edge-based development environment.
Duties and responsibilities
The work will include, among others:
- Supporting research activities in Asset Management, Industrial AI and eMaintenance
- Implementation and participation in research projects in Asset Management, Industrial AI and eMaintenance
- Development and design of applications
- Integration of technologies into AI Factory's edge/joint/cloud platform
- Software development of AI Factory's various services
- Working within the eMaintenance LAB
- Working with the International Industrial AI and eMaintenance Congress and workshop
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge in software engineering
- Extensive knowledge of Python
- Extensive knowledge in software development in cloud environment, e.g. Azure
- Extensive knowledge in spatial application development
- Extensive knowledge of point cloud computing
For the position, a PhD in Operations and Maintenance Engineering or equivalent subject is also an advantage.
