About the role Do you want to help create a safe and sustainable working environment with a focus on laboratory safety? We offer a key role at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics, where you will be part of the operational support and work for all our subject areas. As a work environment coordinator for laboratory safety, you are a key person in the work of coordinating, developing and driving the department's work environment and safety work. The role covers physical safety in laboratories, machine safety, radiation safety and environmental aspects linked to laboratory activities. You support lab managers, subject representatives and heads of department in the work with laboratory safety. The work involves both strategic and operational tasks. You will have overall responsibility for coordinating, planning, conducting and following up safety and fire safety rounds in both laboratories and offices, in collaboration with relevant parties at the department. In addition, you will contribute to developing routines and working methods to create a safe and effective working environment. Qualifications We are looking for you who have: - A relevant academic degree in occupational health and safety, chemistry, mechanical engineering or equivalent field. You can be a work environment engineer, chemical engineer or mechanical engineer, or have equivalent experience that we consider equivalent. - Practical experience of work environment and laboratory work. - Good ability to work in a structured and administrative manner. - Knowledge and/or experience in at least one of the following areas - Chemical management (practical work with chemical products) - Machinery safety (operation of equipment, pressurized devices, gas) - Health and safety and environmental legislation in laboratory environments Merits - Experience in laboratory work in industry or academia. - Experience in working with research collaborations. - Experience in risk assessments and safety audits in laboratory environments. You are structured and have administrative skills, while being solution-oriented and analytical in your work. It is important to keep up to date with rules and procedures and to communicate them in a supportive and proactive way to those in charge. Furthermore, we look for you to be responsive and have a good ability to build and maintain relationships. Since the work involves communicating safety and work environment issues to different target groups, it is important that you are pedagogical and confident in your communication, both in Swedish and English.
