Environmental & Sustainability Engineer for mega project

NCC's business area NCC Green Industry Transformation is now looking for a driven Environmental & Sustainability Engineer to join our team in Gällivare. Heavy industry is changing and paving the way for a fossil-free future that creates significant value in the economy, technological development and the environment. As an important part of the community building in northern Sweden, where some of the most crucial investments are taking place, we are now looking for the right person for this important role in one of our complex and large infrastructure and industrial projects.

Do you want to play a key role in driving environmental and sustainability issues within an exciting and complex project? Do you have a passion for creating long-term sustainable solutions and experience in implementing strategies that make a real difference? Then this could be the role for you!

About the role

As an Environmental & Sustainability Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and sustainability requirements, while driving the development of a sustainability strategy for the project. You will lead and implement processes that minimize negative environmental impacts and optimize resource use, as well as work actively to identify and optimize the project's climate footprint. You will be a key player in driving resource efficiency, circularity, social sustainability and community engagement.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a strong background in environmental and sustainability work and experience of working in large projects or complex operations. You have a relevant post-secondary education and it is an advantage if you have experience from the construction industry. Furthermore, we would like to see that you have:

  • Experience in project management and a track record of driving issues independently

  • Deep understanding of environmental legislation and sustainability strategies

  • Experience working with EPDs, CSRDs and climate assessments

But most importantly - we are looking for someone with a strong drive and a clear ownership of the field. You thrive on building and shaping processes from the ground up, creating structure where it is lacking and engaging your colleagues in sustainability issues. You are a natural representative of the business and can engage in dialog with customers, municipalities and other stakeholders.

NCC offers

With us, you will have the opportunity to influence and shape sustainability work in a significant project. You will be part of a committed team and work in an organization where your efforts make a real difference. In the long term, there is also the opportunity to help build up the sustainability area throughout the business. That's why we offer a wide range of employee benefits and internal training programs. NCC has collective agreements for all employees, which gives you good basic security and a clear set of rules so that you know what applies to your employment. We also offer insurance, reduced working hours, a wellness allowance, advance vacation and lunch benefits.

With us, you are an important employee who contributes to the landmarks that define our cities and communities. Here, our employees take an active role in a company culture founded on solid values and behaviors for a safe and secure workplace. Our collective skills and diverse backgrounds make a difference

Location

Presence in Gällivare is set at a minimum of 50% of working hours, a prerequisite for success in the role, but it is possible to take on this exciting role even for those who live elsewhere. The rest of the time is preferably spent in a place with NCC offices and / or a place with good opportunities to get to Gällivare. For example: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Piteå, Kalix, Luleå, Jokkmokk, Kiruna, or Kramfors.
