Support large and technically advanced submarine cable projects
NKT is currently expanding its nearshore engineering team in Rotterdam, Karlskrona or Malmö. We offer you a unique opportunity to join one of the leading suppliers of the largest and most technically advanced subsea cable projects worldwide.
Working closely with our international customers, we develop, manufacture, and install High Voltage Cables (HVC), which are efficient, environmentally friendly, and technologically advanced.

Play an important role in the installation project life cycle
NKT is on a growth journey, and we are currently looking for a Project Engineer Nearshore with a background in shallow water, shore landing or related construction scopes to strengthen our Nearshore Installation team. In this position, you will play an important role in our nearshore cable installation projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle, from tender to installation.
As a Project Engineer Nearshore, your primary tasks will be to support installation projects at various stages, focusing on landfall and cable lay, barge and burial solutions. You will also play a key role in developing standardized procedures for nearshore installations across our projects.
Your key responsibilities are:
* Support and manage your projects throughout their lifecycle and participate in both office and site works. Depending on your background the role can be tailored more towards barge operations or landfall and burial scopes;
* Develop and document work methods tailored to shallow water vessels/barges and landfalls;
* Assist in the development projects aimed at enhancing our company’s nearshore installation capabilities and competitiveness;
* Engage with diverse stakeholders on a daily basis to ensure project success.
You will join our Nearshore Installation team, collaborating with colleagues based in various global locations. Therefore traveling to different offices and subcontractors is part of your role. We foster a creative and collaborative work environment, emphasizing mutual support and growth.
A Nearshore Project Engineer who enjoys collaborations
To thrive in this role you are good at communicating, with both internal and external stakeholders. You are good at cooperating with others and have resourceful problem-solving skills.
You meet the following requirements:
* A BSc (or higher) in engineering
* Experience in nearshore or offshore cable installation projects; alternatively, in infrastructure construction projects related to land to water structures
* Basic CAD skills
* Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
