Your tasks with usTo ensure the continued development of Umeå, the City Director has a clear mission: to further develop cooperation and collaboration, both internally and externally, together with his or her colleagues. This also means that, as City Director, you will push for us to be even more active in our work together with neighboring municipalities, the business community, associations and other actors, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

In addition to the overall role of City Director in Umeå Municipality, you also have the role of Head of Administration for the City Management Office.

It is also important that you have the ability to sense the inner life of the municipality, create participation and, with good business intelligence, analyze and describe, for the elected representatives, the possibilities and consequences of the decisions made, so that they are based on the goals and visions of the business.

Being a role model as a manager and leader, being able to look at the big picture and communicate visions, goals and missions both internally and externally is also a very important task for the City Manager.Who are you?You are expected to lead, engage and support the managers of the organization towards an effective, innovative and change-oriented way of working with anchoring in political decisions. You have the ability to make the interaction between officials and external cooperation and collaboration actors work. You also have the ability to make long-term sustainable decisions and are good at motivating others and at following up and completing projects.

You are expected to be an ambassador for the municipality and thus enjoy being visible both in the media and in the cityscape and have the ability to manage and represent the municipality in public assignments. As City Manager, you have the ability to handle many types of issues. As a leader, you show courage and strength in your decision-making. You have a strategic vision and are able to lead with joy, energy and ambition.

You have very good experience of managing and developing a large, complex organization with a proven track record.
