Pajala municipality is looking for a principal based in Korpilombolo who wants to be part of the municipality's journey. You will work in a team with an assistant principal who is also based in Korpilombolo. Together, the management team is responsible for Gårdbyskolan Korpilombolo, Sattajärvi skola and Tärendö centralskola and the preschools.
As a principal, you have overall responsibility for finances, staff, work environment and quality and school development. You are also responsible for ensuring that the business meets municipal and national goals and guidelines and that the school's pedagogy is developed so that students are given the best conditions to develop. As a principal, you are of course also a good ambassador for Pajala municipality and the Children and Education Administration.
Pajala municipality provides good conditions for success in the assignment as principal. You are part of the school director's management team with other principals, deputy principals, student health manager and quality developers where you together run and develop schools and preschools in Pajala municipality. You have access to good operational support in the form of administrators, pupil health, special needs teachers, psychologists and others. The municipality also has a central staff function that supports the managers in their work with IT, finance and HR issues.
You have an academic education, experience of educational work and of having worked as a manager/leader.
A teaching degree and/or experience of working as a teacher is an advantage. It would also be an advantage if you have started or completed principal training and experience with digital tools. Pajala municipality is part of the administrative area for Meänkieli and Finnish, which is why it is an advantage if you have knowledge of one or both of these languages.
You are a confident educational leader with a focus on the students' knowledge development. You have integrity and good cooperation skills. You create trusting relationships and achieve confidence and trust.
Your leadership is clear with the ability to inspire and provide conditions for participation. As a principal, you lead, prioritize, distribute and delegate among tasks. You communicate and explain the reasons for decisions and support your arguments with facts. Furthermore, you have the ability to enthuse, anchor and lead an ongoing development work together with the employees.
You have experience of development work in schools and are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and other relevant legislation. Of course, you have good computer skills and can communicate well in both speech and writing.
As a principal in Pajala municipality, it is important that you have a structured approach and that you can work systematically in terms of quality development and work environment. You are a person who seeks new perspectives and ideas to stimulate change, and you take the future and current needs of the business into account when making decisions.
When things do not go as planned, you can change your leadership to be able to achieve the goals and deal with difficulties. The place of employment is Korpilombolo. The assignment requires a driving license B and access to your own car. The position is permanent with a fixed-term managerial appointment for 3 years.
